Some special events require registration to attend. We ask families to pay attention to age requirements for the performers' and overall audience's enjoyment. Browse our events below so you don't miss a thing this summer!

Joys of Nature- Not Really Scary Animals
Friday June 30 - Lebowitz Meeting Hall
10:30-11:30am - No Registration Required 

We may think of some animals like sharks, snakes, and spiders as scary, but are they when we learn about them? Many seemingly “scary animals” have very important jobs in nature, and some even help people! Come to this program to see giant megalodon shark teeth, and don’t miss meeting some not-really-so scary animals too! 

For Families with children 4 and up.

Join us for this fun preschool concert! Hugh Hanley draws from a wide and varied repertoire of songs, fingerplays, and music activities. He is sure to keep you singing long after the program is over!

Honey Heist

3:30-4:30 pm - Registration is Required; Starts 7/3 and 7/10

Join us as we dive into table-top role-playing games! For this game we'll play as bears trying to pull off a heist. No previous experience about role-playing games is required - we'll teach you to play! Each event is individually registered, so please only sign up for one date per child.

For children in grades 3-5.

Drop by the children's department to enjoy two weaving demonstrations with Stacey Pinwinski! Stacey will bring her loom and create a small piece of woven art to celebrate the library's 150th anniversary. Families will have the opportunity to try their hand at weaving boxes, while asking any questions and seeing the woven piece develop.

6-8 pm
- Drop In, No Registration Required
Jay Mankita will share his love of engineering with this amazing program! Participants will design, build, test, and play with chain reactions and creative contraptions. This program is designed for children ages 4 and up, along with a grown-up partner. Instruction starts promptly at 6pm, but participants can stay as long or as little as they like.

For Families with children 4 and up.

Learn To Play Pokemon!

Tuesday August 23 - Lebowitz Meeting Hall

1-4pm - Registration is Required; Starts 8/16

Have you ever wanted to play with Pokemon cards but didn't know where to begin? Come to this program and get the scoop! Join us in the storycraft room with One Up Games to learn the rules of playing with Pokemon cards and receive a starter deck!

For children 8+ up
