Johnstown Inclined Plane
The Inclined Plane is located in Johnstown, PA that has had a history of devastating floods. Constructed as a “lifesaver” after the Johnstown Flood of May 31, 1889, the Incline has more than lived up to its original lifesaving purpose. American Artifacts Preview: Clara Barton's Missing Soldiers Office
Between 1861 and 1868, Clara Barton, known as the Angel of the Battlefield and founder of the American Red Cross, lived in a Washington, DC boarding house. She employed twelve clerks on the third floor in her "Missing Soldiers Office," where they received over 60,000 letters from families searching for lost sons and husbands. This is a tour of the building as it was discovered before demolition, and how it is being brought back for preservation.

Atlas Obscura: Mapparium
The Mapparium is located in the Mary Baker Eddy Library, a Blue Star Museum. It was designed by Boston architect Chester Lindsay Churchill in the early 1930s. It is a three-story-tall, inside-out stained-glass globe that is bisected in the middle by a glass walkway. Once illuminated with hundreds of lamps, today it glows with the light of LEDs.
Walker Library of the History of Human Imagination
A visit to this Library is a celebration of human invention. The Library contains some 20,000 volumes and hundreds of museum-level books, manuscripts, maps and artifacts. These precious objects are housed in a unique setting that is itself a work of art. The architecture of the vast room was inspired by the mind-bending designs of artist M.C. Escher; it features multilevel tiers, “floating” platforms, connecting stairways, a glass bridge, illuminated glass panels, dynamic lighting, and specially commissioned art and music.
